Concert to End Polio

Itzhak Perlman (the violin virtuoso and a polio victim) and the New York Philharmonic joined with Rotary to "End Polio Now Concert". The December 2 concert at New York's Lincoln Center was performed to a full theatre. In 1988, the World Health Organization, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and UNICEF joined Rotary International Polio eradication program and launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. Since then Rotary club members have contributed $800 million, and countless volunteer hours to help immunize two billion children worldwide.
